An IBC tank is more than a liquid container. With the right modifications, it becomes a rainwater harvesting system, an aquaponics grow bed, a mobile fuel station, a mixing vessel, or a raised garden planter. Our fabrication team has modified thousands of tanks for customers across Nebraska and the Midwest, and we can build almost anything you can imagine.
Every custom project starts with a thorough cleaning to ensure the tank is safe for its intended use. From there, we cut, drill, fit, plumb, paint, wire, and test to your exact specifications. Whether you have detailed engineering drawings or just a rough idea, we will work with you to bring it to life.
Our modification shop is fully equipped with CNC cutting tools, pipe threading machines, a full welding shop (MIG, TIG, stick), a spray paint booth, and an electrical panel fabrication area. We stock hundreds of fittings, valves, and hardware items so most projects can begin immediately without waiting for special-order parts.
What We Build
Rain Harvesting Systems
Convert an IBC tank into a complete rainwater collection system for your home, garden, or farm. Our rain harvesting conversions are one of our most popular custom services, and for good reason: a single 275-gallon IBC tote captures enough rainwater from a typical Midwest thunderstorm to irrigate a medium-sized garden for weeks.
Aquaponics & Hydroponics Setups
IBC tanks are the gold standard for DIY and commercial aquaponics systems. We modify tanks to create fish tanks, grow beds, and sump tanks that integrate seamlessly into recirculating aquaponic and hydroponic setups.
Industrial Process Modifications
We adapt IBC tanks for specialized industrial applications that go beyond their original design. Whether you need a mixing vessel, a coolant reservoir, or a chemical dispensing station, we fabricate modifications to your exact specifications.
Custom Fittings & Plumbing
Standard IBC valve configurations do not fit every application. We install custom fittings to match your existing plumbing infrastructure, hose systems, or dispensing equipment.
Paint, Wrapping & Labeling
Turn a plain IBC tank into a branded, professional-looking piece of equipment. We offer custom paint, vinyl wrapping, and labeling services for businesses and organizations that want their tanks to look as good as they perform.
Cut-Top Planters & Garden Beds
Repurpose IBC tanks as large-capacity raised planters and garden beds. Our cut-top conversions are popular with urban gardeners, community gardens, schools, and restaurants that want to grow food on-site in a clean, contained environment.
Electrical Modifications (Pumps, Sensors, Heating)
Add powered components to turn a passive storage tank into an active dispensing, monitoring, or temperature-controlled system. Our electricians install pumps, level sensors, temperature probes, heating elements, and control panels to automate tank operations.
Mobile & Trailer-Mounted Systems
Mount IBC tanks on trailers, truck beds, or skid frames for mobile applications. We build turnkey mobile water, fuel, and chemical dispensing units that are road-legal and ready to work.
Spill Containment & Secondary Systems
For regulatory compliance in chemical storage, we build integrated secondary containment systems around IBC tanks. These systems catch leaks, spills, and overflow to protect your facility and meet EPA SPCC requirements.
Insulation & Temperature Control
Protect contents from extreme temperatures with insulated tank wraps, heated blankets, and cooling jackets. Critical for chemical products with narrow storage temperature ranges and for freeze prevention in outdoor winter applications.
Engineering Consultation
Complex modifications require more than just fabrication skills. Our engineering consultation process ensures every modification is structurally sound, chemically compatible, and compliant with applicable regulations before a single cut is made.
Structural Analysis
We evaluate the impact of any cuts, holes, or added weight on the structural integrity of the tank. HDPE bottles have specific load-bearing characteristics that change when material is removed. Our team calculates stress points and recommends reinforcement where needed.
Material Compatibility
Not every modification material is compatible with every chemical. We verify that fittings, gaskets, coatings, and adhesives are compatible with your intended contents. This includes checking HDPE compatibility, gasket material selection (EPDM, Viton, PTFE), and coating suitability.
Regulatory Compliance Review
Modifications can affect UN certification, FDA compliance, and local building codes. We review your project against applicable regulations and advise on any compliance considerations before fabrication begins. For hazmat applications, we ensure modifications maintain the required UN rating.
CAD Design Service
For complex multi-component modifications, we create detailed CAD drawings showing all port locations, fitting specifications, plumbing schematics, and electrical layouts. These drawings become the fabrication blueprint and are provided to you as a permanent record of the modification.
