The Foundation of Every IBC
The pallet base is the most abused component of an IBC tote. It absorbs every forklift impact, pallet jack insertion, stacking load, and floor vibration over the container's lifetime. A damaged or deteriorated pallet compromises the structural integrity of the entire IBC assembly, creating safety hazards during handling and transport. Replacing a worn pallet base is one of the most cost-effective ways to extend the useful life of an otherwise sound IBC tank.
We stock replacement pallets in all four major material types -- steel, wood, HDPE plastic, and composite -- in both the standard 48" x 40" dimension for 275-gallon and 330-gallon totes and the compact 36" x 36" dimension for 110-gallon units. Whether you need a single replacement pallet for a damaged unit or a bulk order of pallets for a cage rebuild program, we have the inventory and expertise to match the right base to your IBC and application.
All of our replacement pallets are designed for four-way forklift entry, standard pallet jack compatibility (27-inch fork spacing), and proper weight distribution across the full IBC cage footprint. We also offer a pallet repair service for steel and wood bases that can be economically restored rather than replaced.

- Can be repaired with basic carpentry
- ISPM-15 heat-treated options for international shipping
Limitations
- Absorbs moisture and can rot, mold, or swell
- Susceptible to insect infestation
- Shorter lifespan, especially outdoors
- Can splinter and create contamination risk
- Dimensions can change with humidity
Best for: Budget-conscious operations, single-trip or short-term use, indoor dry storage, and international shipping where ISPM-15 compliance is required.
HDPE Plastic Pallet Base
$45 - $85
Material
High-density polyethylene, injection molded or rotationally molded
Dimensions
48" x 40" (standard) or 36" x 36" (compact)
Weight

Load Capacity
3,000 - 4,000 lbs (1,360 - 1,815 kg)
Forklift Entry
4-way entry
Expected Lifespan
10-15 years
Advantages
- Lightweight, reduces shipping costs
- Impervious to moisture, chemicals, and insects
- Easy to clean and sanitize
- No splinters or nails
- Exempt from ISPM-15 requirements
Limitations
- Can crack under extreme cold or impact
- May deform under sustained heavy loads in heat
- Difficult to repair if damaged
- Higher cost than wood
Best for: Food and pharmaceutical applications, clean room environments, export shipping (no fumigation needed), and any application requiring frequent washdown or sanitization.
Composite Pallet Base
$55 - $95
Material
Wood-plastic composite or fiberglass-reinforced polymer
Dimensions
48" x 40" (standard)
Weight
28-38 lbs
Load Capacity
3,500 - 4,200 lbs (1,590 - 1,905 kg)
Forklift Entry
4-way entry
Expected Lifespan
10-15 years
Advantages
- Combines strength of steel with chemical resistance of plastic
- Does not absorb moisture or harbor bacteria
- Dimensionally stable across temperature ranges
- Moderate weight
- Recyclable at end of life
Limitations
- Higher initial cost than wood or basic plastic
- Less common, may be harder to source
- Cannot be repaired as easily as wood
- Some composite materials can be brittle at very low temperatures
Best for: Chemical distribution, food processing, pharmaceutical logistics, and multi-trip shipping programs where a balance of weight, durability, and hygiene is needed.

Brand Compatibility Guide
While most IBC pallets follow standardized dimensions, some manufacturers use proprietary mounting systems. Here is a compatibility reference for major IBC brands.
Pallet Repair Service
Steel Pallet Repair
Steel pallets with bent fork pockets, cracked welds, or minor corrosion can often be economically repaired rather than replaced. Our shop can straighten bent members, re-weld cracked joints, replace damaged fork tubes, and apply fresh galvanizing or paint to corrosion-affected areas.
Repair cost: $25 - $60 per pallet, depending on the extent of damage. Typically 40-60% less than a new steel pallet.
Wood Pallet Repair
Broken deck boards, split stringers, and protruding nails are common wood pallet issues that can be fixed quickly and inexpensively. We replace damaged boards with kiln-dried hardwood or heat-treated softwood that matches the original construction.
Repair cost: $8 - $20 per pallet. Board replacement, re-nailing, and structural reinforcement included. ISPM-15 re-stamping available for export-bound pallets.
Pallet-Only Sales for Cage Rebuilds
Building or rebuilding an IBC cage assembly? We sell pallets individually without requiring the purchase of a complete IBC unit. This service is designed for cage manufacturers, reconditioning facilities, and industrial maintenance teams who need replacement bases for their existing inventory.
Pallet-only orders can be placed in any quantity from a single unit to full truckloads. We maintain inventory of all four material types in standard 48" x 40" dimensions, with compact 36" x 36" pallets available on a lead-time basis. Volume pricing applies to orders of 25 or more pallets.

Forklift & Pallet Jack Compatibility
All IBC pallets we sell feature four-way forklift entry, meaning forks can be inserted from any of the four sides. The fork pocket openings are sized for standard forklift tines (4-6 inches wide, up to 2.5 inches thick). Standard pallet jack compatibility requires a minimum fork pocket width of 7 inches and a minimum fork pocket height of 3 inches.
For the standard 48" x 40" pallet, fork spacing of 27 inches (center-to-center) provides the most balanced lift. For the compact 36" x 36" pallet, adjust fork spacing to 22-24 inches. Always approach the IBC from the side that positions the forks under the heaviest portion of the load, which is the bottom center of a filled container.
Important: Ensure your forklift has adequate capacity for the loaded IBC weight. A 275-gallon tote filled with water weighs approximately 2,413 lbs, and a 330-gallon tote weighs approximately 2,883 lbs. Most standard warehouse forklifts are rated at 3,000-5,000 lbs, which is sufficient for single-tote handling.
